Let’s Roll – Modderfontein Bowls Club

New Bowlers

Interested in finding our more about lawn bowls?

We love new members whether experienced or brand new beginners. Once you become a member, you can play all year round, or just when it suits.  We provide the bowls and all the bits and pieces that go with them so all you need to start is a pair of flat soled shoes. In other words to try lawn bowls is a breeze!

If you have heard stuffy or formal stories about bowls clubs, forget them.

We pride ourselves on an informal club atmosphere where men and women, all ages (from 10 to 100) can play, social and/or competition bowls. The variety is endless and provides great opportunities to meet people in many ways.  Our club members are always ready to make you welcome.

Never played a sport and not sure how you will go? Don’t worry!! We have great coaches to get you started. Tuition is conducted in groups or by individual appointment and, of course, there is no charge for coaching sessions.

Membership Fees

Modderfontein has a very innovative fee structure. Our fees are paid on a monthly basis instead of the norm at most clubs where members are required to pay their full annual fee upfront. This makes belonging to our club very affordable as the monthly fee is only R300.00.

As with all bowls clubs, an affiliation fee of approximately R500.00 also has to be paid to Bowls South Africa at the end of each calendar year.

Coaching

All new bowlers who have not played are to have coaching with a club coach before bowling on the green. This is to ensure that new bowlers are made aware of safety issues and etiquette as well as bowling fundamentals. Skills coaching is available and recommended for all members. Individual coaching can be arranged by appointment. Coaching is free to members.
